Competition Overview

What Is It?

A U.S. Army live pitch competition run by the FUZE xTech Program, in partnership with the Joint Innovation Outpost (JIOP) and the 101st Airborne Division. Part of the eMerge Americas Conference & Expo 2026.

Authority: 10 U.S.C. ยง 4025 (Prize Competitions)

Prize Structure

Up to 6 winners ร— $100,000 each = $600,000 total

Winners also get to demo at "The Week of the Eagles" โ€” Fort Campbell, KY with the 101st Airborne (May 15โ€“21, 2026).

Why This Matters

  • Direct access to Army acquisition decision-makers
  • Follow-on contracts via OTA, SBIR, prototype authority
  • Live demo to 101st Airborne = real user feedback
  • Non-dilutive cash + credibility signal

Competition Flow

  1. Pre-Registration โ€” Quad chart submission (by Apr 3)
  2. 60-Second Elevator Pitch โ€” Apr 22 (guaranteed slot if pre-selected)
  3. 5-Min Live Pitch โ€” Apr 23โ€“24 (up to 36 selected)
  4. Winners Announced โ€” Apr 24 at 3:30 PM ET

Topic 1: Counter-sUAS for Dismounted Forces

Problem Statement

The Army needs man-portable, rapidly deployable counter-sUAS solutions that dismounted infantry can carry and operate in contested, austere environments. The threat from small unmanned aerial systems is growing โ€” from commercial off-the-shelf drones to custom-built ISR and attack platforms.

What They're Looking For

  • Solutions that are beyond concept stage โ€” mature, integration-ready, fieldable
  • Must be demonstrable within 30 days in exercises with U.S. and coalition forces
  • Capable of operating in contested, austere, and dynamic environments
  • Must integrate with existing DoW programs of record
  • NOT early-stage ideas โ€” this is for near-term deployable capabilities
  • Technologies that enhance decision dominance and operational tempo

Key Capability Requirements

๐ŸŽฏ Detection & Identification

Detect, track, and classify small UAS threats in cluttered environments โ€” RF, acoustic, EO/IR, radar, or multi-sensor fusion approaches.

โšก Defeat & Neutralization

Kinetic or non-kinetic defeat mechanisms. Electronic warfare, directed energy, kinetic interceptors, or novel approaches. Must minimize collateral and friendly-fire risk.

๐Ÿƒ Dismounted Form Factor

Man-portable or vehicle-mountable with minimal logistics footprint. Must be operable by soldiers with limited training in austere conditions.

๐Ÿ”— Interoperability

Integration with Army C2 systems, existing air defense networks, and coalition partner equipment. Standards-based interfaces.

๐Ÿ’ก Tehiru's Angle โ€” How to Position

As an aerial systems company, Tehiru has direct domain expertise in UAS โ€” which means intimate understanding of the threat. Frame the solution around:

  • Offensive expertise โ†’ Defensive advantage: "We know how drones think because we build them"
  • Field-ready maturity: Emphasize any TRL 6+ technology, prior demos, or operational deployments
  • Speed to demo: Ability to show up at Fort Campbell in May with working hardware
  • Soldier-centric design: Lightweight, simple UI, minimal training burden

Suggested Structure (60 seconds)

SecondsContent
0โ€“10Hook + Company โ€” "The sUAS threat is [stat]. Tehiru has the answer."

40โ€“50Army Fit โ€” Man-portable, integrates with POR, dismounted-ready
50โ€“60Close โ€” "Ready to demo at Fort Campbell in May. Let's talk."

Pitch Tips

โœ… Do

  • Practice with a stopwatch โ€” 60s is brutal
  • Lead with the problem, not the solution
  • Use concrete numbers (range, weight, battery life)
  • Name-drop prior military demos if any
  • End with a clear call-to-action
  • Prepare for the 30-second follow-up Q&A

โŒ Don't

  • Don't use jargon the panel doesn't need
  • Don't try to cover everything โ€” pick 2โ€“3 key points
  • Don't read from notes โ€” conversational delivery
  • Don't go over time โ€” they will cut you off
  • Don't pitch vaporware โ€” they want mature tech

5-Minute Live Pitch

๐Ÿšซ No Presentation Software Allowed

No slides, no laptop presentations. You CAN bring physical prototypes and printed materials. Plan accordingly โ€” this is show-and-tell, not slide-and-tell.
